The whole area around Guilin is worthy of several days exploration. The area to the south is best represented by a stay in Yangshuo. The area to the north is very different and, perhaps, best represented by the Rice Terraces of Longsheng.
Beyond them lies a huge area of rarely-visited rural China stretching right up into Guizhou Province. A visit here would require many days and careful planning.
